In partnership with Graduate Division leadership and staff, Shanti designs and implements robust philanthropic engagement activities (communications, events, matching programs, etc.) that invite and celebrate how donor support catalyzes Berkeley’s unparalleled graduate students, faculty, and programs towards success.

Shanti brings two decades of experience to her work connecting people, ideas, and resources to serve the organizations and causes to which she is devoted. She joined the graduate Division in 2014 following eleven years as Director of Development, Alumni Relations & Communications for International House at UC Berkeley, where she engaged residents, community and campus supporters and over 40,000 alumni worldwide to advance the IH mission of cross-cultural respect, friendship and leadership for a world of greater understanding.   Her education in Community Studies (UCSC) and graduate training in Communications Management (USC) informs her skill-set and collaborative approach non-profit and higher education-focused philanthropic work with such institutions as USC, Business for Social Responsibility, the YWCA, and the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW), among others. Shanti lives and volunteers in El Cerrito where she lives with her husband, two sons, and a “spoiled hot dog” dachshund.

Liz collaborates with alumni and friends to build program and fellowship support for Berkeley’s talented graduate students, increasing accessibility for graduate studies while maintaining Cal’s high caliber of education and research.

Having joined Berkeley four years ago, she remains amazed by the deep connection and generosity of alumni, friends and industry partners working together to maintain Berkeley’s excellence. Liz began her career at Cal at the College of Engineering where she helped build philanthropic support for innovative technologies. Liz has spent the last eleven years working with non-profits in the Bay Area.

Jane orchestrates events on campus and around the world that unite fans of Berkeley’s renowned graduate programs, innovative research, and unparalleled students and faculty.

Having worked at the Graduate Division for more than fifteen years, Jane considers the highlight of her work to be wrestling “the devil in the details” of event management and getting to know Berkeley students, faculty, alumni and friends. Originally from the East Coast near Boston, she now considers herself a Californian and loves to enjoy the natural beauty of the Bay Area with friends, attend the theater, and devour a good book.
